But the people are very thirsty, and they strongly urged us to do what we promised them, and to make a solemn promise that we can’t break.
And Judith said to them: As you know that what I have been able to say is of God:
But our people are dying of thirst. They forced us to say what we did and to make a solemn promise, which we cannot break.
The people, however, were so thirsty that they forced us to do for them as we have promised, and to bind ourselves by an oath that we cannot break.
However, the people were so parched with thirst that they led us to make this promise and to take an oath that cannot be broken.
